Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

If you want to be a missionary, you have to be prepared to devote yourself to the missionary works for life. Since a missionary¡¯s life needs lifelong sacrifice not everyone can easily choose to become one.
There is a great opportunity for you to become a missionary for a year. You can take this opportunity if you accept a Christian foreign teen who wants to study in the States as your family member for a year.
Every year hundreds of thousands of foreign students visit the States to pursue their study. Among them the number of Korean students has increased dramatically to the level of the top rank. Reportedly many of them are to stay at the school-related facilities like dormitory but the others are to live with American host families.
American host families can provide the students with a chance to learn English as well as the foundation for deep understanding of America. Moreover, American Baptist families could affect and lead them to Baptism during their stay in the States. Even heterodox believers such as Mormons, Adventists and Jehovah¡¯s Witnesses are reported to participate actively in becoming volunteer host families as they¡¯ve seen the possibility to utilize the host family system as a way of promoting their religion to Christian students.
In the missionary perspective, becoming a host family can be one of the best opportunities for faithful Baptist families to preach the Gospel and to serve others.

To become a host family means to open your home to a Korean teen who enters with J-1 or F-1 visa status to attend your local public or private secondary school for 6 months or 10 months.
All the students should be from faithful Christian families and are carefully screened and selected by their own program based on their English ability, health, academic achievement, personality and interests in extracurricular activities.
Students are fully covered by the medical insurance that meets the Department of the States requirements. If students are placed in the host families¡¯ homes, local staffs who are employees or volunteers of the program sponsor designated by the Department of the States will support host families and students during their stay.
In general, a host family is encouraged to accept a student as a family member for about a year, provide the student with a comfortable and nurturing home environment for free, and share actively American cultures and Christian faith with the student.
Students are required to provide for their own spending money; host families are asked to cover only the expense of room and board.

In order to become a host family, you are expected to provide your contact information such as who you are and where you live, including your phone number and email address.
Once your information is submitted to the local staff, an in-person interview will be arranged and visits will be paid if necessary then.
After the interview a final decision will be made whether or not you are qualified to become a host family by the program, and notification will be given to you in a proper manner. You can expect the student¡¯s information placed to your family after that.
